I have taught at St. Patrick School since 1988, primarily working with the 7th and 8th graders in religion, mathematics, and science. What I love most is learning alongside my students and building a classroom community where everyone belongs.
Each year, our students select a special focus for service learning that makes a difference in our local or wider community, and I am always inspired by their generosity and compassion.
One of my favorite units to teach is A World in Motion (AWIM), a project-based, cross-curricular program, where the students integrate and apply their skills in authentic ways to prepare for their futures. Students work collaboratively to research, build knowledge, design and test prototypes, and present their end products.
Throughout my career at St. Patrick School, I have had the privilege of teaching my own children, celebrating the 8th grade Mass each year, receiving the Gary Dickenson Award for AWIM, earning a Gold Star Award, and being named Mix 96 Teacher of the Week in January of 2007. None of these accomplishments would have been possible without the support and partnerships of our parents, students, and the dedicated teachers and staff.
My family means everything to me. I am blessed with two children, Steven and Stephanie, and one grandchild, Lily. While I deeply miss my husband, Greg, I am grateful for the family life he helped bring into my world and the time we had together. As a St. Patrick Parish member, I serve as a sacristan, Communion Minister, and adult faith formation facilitator.
St. Patrick is truly my extended family, and I am grateful for every day I have an opportunity to teach and serve here!
