Students may choose from a variety of enrichment experiences which change from semester to semester and year to year depending on interests of participants and volunteers. Signup sheets go home to families for each semester.
FALL 2022
Board Game Group - Grades 3-8, meets weekly on Fridays from 3:35-4:35 p.m. (Oct.-Dec.)
Each week students will be learning and playing different types of board games. Playing board games is a great way to learn and practice skills such as social skills, problem solving, playing fairly and showing leadership/sportsmanship. This group will be led by Mrs. Hill. (limit of 6 participants)
Coloring Club - Grades K-4, meets the first Tuesday of the month from 3:30-4:15 p.m. (Oct.-May)
Students will combine creativity and service to color pictures that will be given to the Western Home to brighten up their hallways. Mrs. Byers will lead this group. (limit of 10 participants).
Designs and Signs - Grades 5-8, meets the first Thursday of the month from 3:30-4:15 p.m. (Oct.-Apr.)
Learn the process and make signs and small designs out of wood. Students will design, paint, put the letters on and frame at least one sign and one small design. Mr. Baird will lead this group. (limit of 10 participant
Mallets & More Music Makers - Grades 3-6, meets on Fridays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. Dates: Oct. 7, 14, and 28; Nov. 4 & 11, and Dec. 3 & 9
Students will learn to play pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments to make music with multiple layers of sound. Music literacy skills will be developed and practiced as we work on reading music and learning to play parts independently and with a group. Mrs. Grimm will lead this group. (limit of 12 participants)
MathCounts - Grades 6-8, meets on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:00 p.m. (Oct.-Mar.)
Students work in a group setting to solve problems that cover concepts in Algebra, Geometry, Logic, Probability, and more. Students interested in competition or in improving their math skills are encouraged to attend. This group is led by Mrs. Funk.
There is a one-time fee of $15 per student, per activity (except Math Counts), to help cover the cost of project materials and supplies.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES OFFERED VIA SEPARATE REGISTRATION
First Lego League, Junior (Grades 1-3) and First Lego League (Grades 4-8)
Students are introduced to science, technology, engineering, and math concepts while working with Legos to examine real-world scientific problems. A separate First Lego League letter goes out each fall with more information and registration. Coordinator: Mrs. Neumann. Separate registration is required.
Cub Scouts (Boys & Girls grades K-5) & Scouts BSA (Boys 11+)
In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right-now selves and grow into their very best future selves. It's fun, hands-on learning and achievement that puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today - and for life. Mr. Strei is the contact person for this activity. Separate registration is required."
Our after-school Enrichment Activities complement other opportunities at St. Patrick such as Battle of the Books, Leader in Me jobs, Opus Honor Choir, John Deere's Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, and more.
Additional Enrichment Activities may be added during the semester.
